Amanda Wigglesworth
Born in 1960 in Wilmslow, Amanda loved her art through school but was persuaded to follow a career in catering. Her love of art eventually meant that as a mature student she graduated from MMU in 2001 with a BA in History of art and design.
Amanda has featured in exhibitions across the whole country such as the Birmingham Royal, Nottingham art house and the Grosvenor museum.
Amanda is essentially concerned with abstract forms created by the vitality of colour and the depth of the painting surface. Her paintings engage the eye through and beyond the surface and form appears flawed by the painterly energy.
Each piece for Amanda is putting a little bit more of herself onto the canvas. The textures and layers reveal paintings of fantastic depth that although abstract, have definite forms, shapes and figures. Her work is has immense presence, which is not just due to the physical size of them but also the mysterious shapes and colours that work so well together
