Victoria  Tsekidou

Born in Russia in 1982, Victoria developed her interest for art after moving to Greece at the age of 13. Having a strong background in design, she completed a BA (Hons) in Painting & Drawing at the University of Huddersfield.

“I use as many techniques, additives, and ways of applying materials as possible to create a surface that entices the viewer and accentuates the process of looking. I find myself trapped in exploring that mysterious relationship between the brush and the surface of canvas, as the possibilities are endless.

My inspiration comes from a little dot of an image to a whole world outside of my window. I can only be pleased when the last bit of paint has dried on a canvas and it all comes together to tell a new story. It is this essence which is beautiful to me. It is this beauty which moves the artistic spirit within me and that which I seek to project within my work.

The latest body of my work is influenced by nature. The simplicity of brush strokes creates originality which attracts me to build a recognisable image in an abstract way. I would like to explain more about it but I feel I do not quite grasp it significance yet. Looking at my paintings is the best way to understand this strange and beautiful process.“
