Sarah Mayhew

Since completing her studies at Manchester Metropolitan University Sarah has developed into an established multi-disciplinary artist, adept in many forms.

Her core skills in painting, drawing and portraiture have since evolved into working with animation, illustration, photography and multimedia. At 26 Sarah set up her own CD Rom design and illustration consultancy and has also gained extensive experience as a scenic artist; a role that forced her to think quickly and on a huge scale.

In 2002 Sarah turned her attentions back to moulding a vocation as a full time artist and now produces stunningly vibrant artwork with interactive twists. Her self-titled ‘interchangeable squares’ demonstrate a beautifully meticulous technical ability whilst employing the viewer’s creativity to change the overall appearance of each piece. She describes this body of work as ‘realising an abstract art basis wherein the final outcome is determined by the viewer.’

Sarah is currently focusing on the more figurative side of her work rather than the abstract, yet even her portraits take on this playful nature, utilising wooden blocks and magnets to again create an ever-changing aesthetic that can be redefined time and again.
