Danny Cawley Solo Show
The Mooch art gallery looks forward to the exhibition of one of Manchester’s most promising up and coming artists. A born and bred Mancunian, Danny Cawley has held exhibitions around the northwest but never before in his hometown. On Saturday the 21st November, mooch art Manchester will host an 8-week exhibition of Danny’s mesmerizing abstract art at Mooch in the Triangle. There will also be a live set played by John Bramwell from "I am Kloot".
The response to this has meant we have had to limit numbers. To receive your invitation please e-mail info@mooch-art.co.uk or call 0161 9234639.
“I am very excited for a number of reasons, it’s the biggest show to date in my hometown and John Bramwell has agreed to play which makes it different from the way galleries usually unveil art for the first time. I like the previews to be remembered as events in their own right”
Danny’s work has captured the eye of many famous musicians. Fans of his work include Simon Jones from the Verve, Jon Brooks from the Charlatans and Damon Gough (Badly Drawn boy). Mixing socially with these performers and having gone to school with the Gallagher brothers, Danny’s exhibition is heavily influenced by music.
“I can’t paint without music, the louder the better. The tunes that I put on set the mood and it’s about total escapism.”
Mooch will be presenting 30 new works of art especially for this solo show. The event will include live music from one of Manchester’s finest singer/songwriters, John Bramwell, who is the lead singer of one of Manchester darkest but most beautiful secrets, “I am Kloot”.
The event will also include visuals of Danny creating his paintings. It is a complex creative process that needs to be seen to be understood.
Danny uses mainly oil-based paints to create wild and energetic abstract art with bold colours and superb textures. Having spent many years as a graffiti artist this is clear in the work he produces. There is an urban feel to it with all pieces having a "heart" to it.
“I am experimenting all the time with texture, depth and colour. There’s not enough colour in this town so maybe my work is a subconscious reaction to it.”
Mooch art owner, Mike Smith, says, “Danny represents the future of art in the UK. He is the new generation that is experimenting with his art in a way that would shock the traditionalists. His art is classless and has none of the pretensions that you can see with other work. He has the energy to match his painting style and it is clear he is going to make a name for himself.”
Damon Gough “Danny’s attitude to life and to his work is very inspiring, his work rate is phenomenal and the passion for what he does results in some amazing pieces of original art”
Jonny Brooks, the Charlatans, “Danny’s creations erupt from Manchester’s murky depths, meeting head on the clash of city and soul… sun for the soul”
