Michael Gutteridge and Dai David Exhibition - February 3rd, 6-8pm
The Mooch art gallery looks forward to an art exhibition with a musical flavour. The exhibition will feature artwork from two established artists who are revealing the source of their creativity.

Dai David, a former pupil of the Royal Northern College of Music, is a trained opera singer and pianist. Born near Brecon, South Wales in 1968 he adopted Manchester as his home during his time at college. His talent in music has had a profound impact on his artwork and his latest series is largely composed of Jazz musicians.
Michael Gutteridge paints a Manchester you have never seen before, twisted and distorted. A swirling, surreal Manchester, full of nervous energy. His life long love of jazz is a source of his inspiration and his work shares the improvised, rolling and exaggerated nature of the music.
Dai says, "My work is currently exploring the use of colour in a BIG way, it seems fitting with the jazz- feel theme. Colour expresses our feelings in an abstract way. The link between harmony, rhythm and Art is quite considerable; the fusion of both senses- Sight and Sound has always triggered my creativity. The world of Music offers such diverse genres that I need to reflect this by painting freely in a variety of styles. My passionate feelings for Music act as a catalyst for my imagination and allow me to express my Art in a joyously uninhibited fashion. Listening to music continuously whilst painting helps me to explore emotions and moods and consequently this colours my palette."
Michael “Painting these scenes just excites me. It’s the juxtaposition of totally different styles of architecture. When I was younger I always wanted to get out of Manchester, and live somewhere else. Then, literally overnight, I was walking around and realised it was a pretty fantastic place.; a place I wanted to be above all others.
